Matthew Zions wins the 15th edition !19/06/2011

Leading party this morning thanks to his seizure of power at the conclusion of the 3rd tour, australian Matthew Zions gains the 15th edition of the Open de Saint-Omer, and an attractive 100 000-euro check. He knew how to manage the pressure which surrounds generally the leader who approaches the final tour in head. With 3 knocks beforehand on the second yesterday, we thought that most hard was made and that he just had " to assure " the par. But it was bad to know this 32-year-old professional who, in spite of a strong wind, didn't hesitate to take risks. Result, he ends in 6 knocks in front of his prosecutors Daniel Denison, Craig Lee and Peter Gustafsson.

Victor Dubuisson in first French.
With a score of -2 today, Victor Dubuisson is the first French to position in the final classification, on the 12th place. The first tour in 75 (+4) will leave doubtless quite a lot of regrets. Julien Guerrier 17th, François Calmels and Julien Grillon 24th complete the podium of the French.

A hole in one in 17!

If the majority of the present spectators logically followed the pretenders in the title in their battle, it's in David Dixon's passage in the hole n°17 that it was necessary to be today. A magnificent iron blow 7 on 191 meters to realize the only hole in one of the tournament. With this blow, English so proved that its victory in 2008 wasn't a trickery.

It's with this coronation of the Australian that ends the 15th edition of the Open de Saint-Omer. If there was only a single thing to be held ? Meeting next year!

The cut fell !17/06/2011

With the second tour today the competition, the long-awaited verdict by all the pros fell: the list of the players qualified to compete 3rd and 4th for tours this weekend. Far from worrying about the revelation of this list, Italian Andrea Perrino and the Scot Craig Lee, by realizing the second tour respectively - 2 and - 3, replaced George Coetzee at the head of the classification. This last one doubtless owes the loss of its first placz to the double bogey realized to come at the end of the hole 14. He succeeds however in staying in the head’s trio.

For other players, the important thus was to appear in 65 first ones and ex æquo at the conclusion of the second tour. In the end, 77 players were qualified.

To note in this cut, the qualification with difficulty of Martin Wiegele. The proverb according to which none of the Open’s winners succeeded in taking away it twice seems left well to come true still on this 15th edition. Finally, China placed its only representative in the qualified players, because Mu Hu crossed the cut.

Zoom on French

Benoît Teilleria, who had ended second yesterday, didn’t really manage to reproduce the same course as yesterday. By returning a card in +5, he ends at the 32nd place. Johann Lopez Lazaro, 3rd French, returned well as for him the situation. Stayed in +4 yesterday evening, he realizes - 3 today which allows him to cross the cut, by raising more than 60 places! All in all, 10 French will thus be still present this weekend. This weekend which will be slightly modified, because tomorrow, because of gusts of wind planned on the route, the player’s departures will be advanced at 7h am.

Coetzee in head, Wiegele in trouble16/06/2011

Coetzee in head, Wiegele in trouble

Very early this morning officially dashed the 15th edition of the Open de Saint-Omer. Among the first persons starters, Martin Wiegele (winner of the 14th edition) doubtless appeared among the most expected. Regrettably for him, its departure goes seems to complicate him the task in its prospect to reconquer the title for the second time. With two double bogeys, the Austrian clocks this evening on the 85th place. It will be necessary to him to realize quite a different course tomorrow to be able to cross the decisive cut at the conclusion of the 2nd tour, where the professionals will not be then more than half in the race to compete for the final phases.

As for the performances, it ‘s George Coetzee who knew how to best tame the route, displaying at the top of the first day by realizing a score of -5.

The French clan in working order

With 26 French at first, France hopes it can indeed appear in good position in the final classification of the tournament. If we shall count the number of French chances after the cut of tomorrow evening, today the pleasant surprise came from Benoît Teilleria, who with a score of -3, is classified in the 2nd position. To follow…

Second pro-am day15/06/2011

Before opening officially the doors of its 15th edition, Open de Saint-Omer welcomed today the second day pro-am organized at opening of the tournament. While the first day had given rise to a single competition, today, every half-day his. All in all, it is thus 49 teams of amateurs and professionals who were in confrontation on the audomarois route. This morning, Julien Quesne accompanied the young people Martin Caritey, Pierre Masson and Arielle Dubois (photo) for the Conseil General’s team, were led by realizing the score of -15. In the afternoon, the team taken by Jamie Elson realized a better score still: - 17.

On the eve of the tournament, the atmosphere was so friendly certainly always and centred on the sharing of the knowledge, but we could feel at the professional's a certain concentration, to assimilate doubtless to the phase of repetition before the big joust of tomorrow. Tomorrow exactly, 156 professional players will dash in the conquest of the trophy of the 15th edition of the Open de Saint-Omer. Find all the current events and follow the live tournament on our website.

Young Schoolchildrens on Open14/06/2011

In its will asserted opening the golf to the largest number in particular to the young people, Open de Saint-Omer opened, between two days of pro-am, its doors to the Lumbres’s young schoolchildren.

Come on the same place which will welcome Open in 2 days, passing a few meters away from the professionals in the training, 250 day golfers saw proposing a lot of animations throughout the day. From their descent of the bus at 9 am, two groups were established. To the first group, the privilege to assist to one " skin game " ( friendly competition) or more widely a demonstration realized by the professionals. In the second, 4 workshops to learn: approach, practice, putting, but also a workshopon the sustainable development to make sensitive the young people in the respect for the frame which surrounds them. After the meal, conversely the groups.

While the fatigue would have been able to gain our young sportsmen according to the day, no sign of tiredness on the faces of the children. On the contrary, all were very attentive to what will doubtless be one of the moments of highlight of this day: a demonstration of some members of the French team handigolf. Impressed by swings, approaches and putting realized by the members of the Olympic team, all left with a full lot of images and memories the head. We shall have almost no evil to imagine the discussions which will feed the return by bus. If the majority will occupy the route with deciphering the golf, it will be the first sign of the success of this initiative. Another signs? See again them all in Open before end of the week …

Golf on Grand'Place !12/06/2011

On the occasion of the 4th edition of the waiters' race organized on Sunday, June 12th by the municipality, Open de Saint-Omer wanted to bring out greens to come meeting of the general public.

For the event, Grand’ Place of Saint-Omer had thus been transformed into a real "golf playing field". Throughout the afternoon, various animations waited for the volunteers, and the most curious, to suggest them discovering the golfic discipline: 6 putting, 3 practice and 3 approach had been set up for their attention to allow them to learn. If the majority of the participants had a rather low mean age, the glances and the smiles of the parents concerned their children said length about it on the success of this initiative. In the middle of the afternoon, near about fifty persons had been already able to take a golf club in hand.

While the golf then left the place with the waiters' race, the possibilities to discover this sport aren’t ended for all that. For persons who have missed the event, or for those who would like to try to improve, Open de Saint-Omer will propose throughout the tournament of numerous animations to the visitors. With always the same objective: discover the golf!

Symposium Sports & Enterprise10/06/2011

With the aim of the National Games of the Sport of Enterprise which will be held in Saint-Omer in 2012, Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club organized on Friday, June 10th, on the site of the Open de Saint-Omer, a symposium Sport and Enterprises.

Around Pierre Wolf, and in front of about sixty persons, quality participants stemming from various domains were exchanged the word around two themes:

Why to promote the physical and sports activity in enterprise?

What solutions to develop it ?

Christophe Popineau, Jean-Marc Dupuis, Laurent Capet, Julien Pierre, Christophe Cathelain, Julien Tabary, Séverine Leduc, Aurélien Danthois, Ludovic Loquet, Haïdy Aron and Elodie Pecqueur formed the list of the specialists to have intervened during the symposium.

All exchanged on the necessity of promoting the physical and sports activity in enterprise, due to the benefactions which it can bring to the employees who devote to it: management of the stress, a better lifestyle, a better ageing, the release or the decompression of the pressures bound to the work, and many others else.

From then on, the leaders of enterprises were attentive to the solutions advanced to set up the practice of the physical and sports activity in enterprise, to allow the employees to bloom otherwise in the work, but also to weave the other links with their hierarchies, once the social place attributed in the enterprise left in the changing room.

For the bravest which wished to face the rain (although the practice is covered), the day ended in an initiation into the golf. Just to stay in the day’s theme, and why not to incite them to come back during Open. Open, it’s in less than a week …

Georges Barbaret brings his support at Open de Saint-Omer10/06/2011

Year by year builds our sports building which goes of the youngest at the highest level, so amateur as professional.

This building, for its solidity and its quality, includes events which allow the players to express themselves, to confront with the best, to become hardened to the hard conditions of the international events.

For several years now, Open de Saint-Omer brings its stone under a unique shape in France because it’s a double tournament badge European Tour / Challenge Tour, formulates that its founder, Jean-Jacques Durand, negotiated with the European Tour.

Positioned on the international, Open de Saint-Omer knew also how to anchor in its region, particularly at the level of the school golf, and with a constant effort to associate at the same time the young people, the economic world, and the world golfic of nearness.

The event knew how to, by its multiple facets, assert itself to join over time as a sports stage very appreciated by the international competitors and the French champions.

Open de Saint-Omer also brought its stone to the Ryder Cup project and the fact that France was retained as country host in 2018 will spatter without doubt on the French golf and on the professional events taking place on our territory.

Open de Saint-Omer will be still this year, as usual, a success and will set credibly some more of scale in the next years.

Naturally, the ffgolf and the League of Nord-Pas-de-Calais bring it their support.
